REPLACE THAT TATTERED SCHOOL UNIFORM

H.O.P.E (Helping Other Pupils Everywhere)

Every year, hundreds of students drop out of school due to lack of decent school uniforms. Six out of ten students wear tattered uniforms in rural community-based schools in the Volta and Oti Regions of Ghana.

One cannot underestimate the advantages of a new and well preserved uniform on the self-esteem of our students.  As part of our H.O.P.E (Helping Other Pupils Everywhere) Project, we rebuild students’ confidence by replacing their ragged school uniforms. Thankfully, IMoGAK Fashion Design and Clothing is helping us sew school uniforms for 2, 000 students in rural Oti and Volta Regions of Ghana at an impressive cost. The goal of this project is to boost enrolment in these community-based schools, reduce the burden on the poor parent in these areas and ultimately,  help meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Four of “ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.” An educated child means a developed nation. Cost of material and sewing for a uniform each is GH¢30.00. Donate to keep that child in school.

Revive A Writing Club

Join the campaign to promote creative writing and critical thinking in rural community-based schools by supporting a writing club or forming one (Write for World Club).

Research has shown that despite the importance of social media to students, unconventional English words and expressions otherwise known as “Electronic English,” have found its way into the academic write ups of students as a result of their exposure to online chat apps. This development is frightening as it is one of the leading causes of students’ failure in the English Language examination. To curb this rising phenomenon, the organisation supports writing clubs in schools by introducing innovative student-centred activities to sharpen the writing skills of students. Through the Write for World Challenge Project, we have donated writing aids to students and teaching materials to rural community schools to ensure efficient and sustainable writing clubs in schools. We organize workshops for facilitators of writing clubs on the best writing methods and approaches to boost students’ writing skills. We also form Write for World Club in schools where there is none. We organize writing competition for writing clubs and award on merit. With your contribution, we are hopeful of meeting the demands of other community based schools to revive the spirit of creative and conscious writing in our students. Your support will help bridge the gap between rural and urban education and change a student’s destiny for the better.
