On Friday, 14th June, 2024, Write for World Organisation officially opened Phase One of its Centre for Vocation and Trade Project(CeVoTraP) in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital, to provide skills training in Fashion Design to vulnerable female school dropouts and at-risk and young single mothers from deprived communities of the Guan District and some Urban Poor Communities of the Volta Region respectively, free of charge.
Plan International Ghana SPIIA Manager, Mr. Sulemana Gbana, and other key representatives were present for the official opening and inspection of the refurbished facility, completed with funding support from Plan International Ghana.
Mr. Sulemana Gbana commended Write for World for taking such a bold initiative that would go a long way to impact the lives of the less privileged in the target communities. He advised Write for World to ensure that sustainable measures are put in place so that the intended goal of the project is achieved.
The Regional Director of National Youth Authority, Mr. Yao Semode, tasked parents and guardians of potential beneficiaries to encourage their wards to take the programme seriously as it is one surest way of securing for themselves a better future.
The Board Chairman of Write for World, Mr. Korsi Bodjah expressed gratitude to Plan International Ghana for their support and called for more of such positive partnerships in the future to extend the organisation’s projects to other communities.
CeVoTraP is a pro-poor initiative aimed at eradicating poverty induced social vices among young girls in deprived communities by economically empowering them to enjoy self-sufficient lives. As part of the project, participants would be established back at their respective communities and start-up kits provided for their smooth transition into the workforce.
Also present to support the opening event were management and representatives of Write for World, leadership of other youth led and women centred organisations; Smart Hub, WomenNow Ghana, CEO of VVIO Couture, Ho Municipal Director of National Youth Authority, representatives of the Ho Municipal Social Welfare Department, parents and guardians of first batch of potential participants of the project.
